Four Diljit Dosanjh songs barred from Indore concert performance
Authorities issued a directive to the venue manager to prevent songs glorifying alcohol, drugs and violence from being played.
Officials have disallowed four songs by Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh from being performed at his November 15 concert in Indore. According to reports from Rediff, India Today and The Tribune, the restricted tracks are Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke, Jeb Vicho Feem, and Jatt Fire Karda.
The District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) of Indore issued the directive to the manager of the C21 Mall venue following a complaint by Chandigarh-based Dr Panditrao Dharenavar. The administration stated that these songs, which allegedly promote alcohol, drugs and firearms, could adversely impact children.
The official notice cited a July 22, 2019, Punjab and Haryana High Court order which directed police to ensure songs glorifying liquor, drugs and violence are not played at live shows. The directive noted that children over the age of five will be permitted to attend the concert.
In his complaint, Dr Dharenavar also requested that the singer not be allowed to invite children on stage due to concerns regarding loud music and flashing lights. He further objected to the singer wearing silver bullet belts or dummy metallic cartridges on his chest.
Addressing security concerns in an Instagram video, Dosanjh confirmed the November 15 performance will proceed as planned despite reports of threats. He stated that he is aware of the news regarding threats but intends to meet the audience in Indore as scheduled.
