PM Modi visits LK Advani as veteran leader enters 100th year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday to mark his 99th birthday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the residence of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday, November 8, to greet him on his 99th birthday. The visit marked Advani's entry into the 100th year of his life, according to reports from Moneycontrol, Times of India, and ANI.

In an article published in The Indian Express, the Prime Minister recalled Advani's political journey, including his experience of the Partition, his role in strengthening the Jana Sangh, and his work in building the BJP. Modi also highlighted Advani's opposition to the Emergency in 1975 and his leadership during the Somnath-to-Ayodhya Rath Yatra in 1990.

The BJP organised a special puja and havan at its headquarters in New Delhi on Sunday to honour Advani's public life. The event was attended by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, and Advani's daughter, Pratibha Advani.

Several political leaders extended their wishes, including former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who described Advani as a dear friend. Former President Ram Nath Kovind also sent greetings, stating the nation reflects with respect on Advani's long public life and contributions.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Advani as a symbol of national service and one of the architects of the BJP. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Nitin Nabin also paid tribute to the Bharat Ratna awardee, who was conferred the honour in 2024.
