Lando Norris wins Brazilian Grand Prix as Mercedes clinches title
Mercedes secured its first Formula 1 constructors' title since 2021 after George Russell and Kimi Antonelli finished fourth and fifth.
Lando Norris secured McLaren’s first race victory in three months by winning the Brazilian Grand Prix, according to The Race. Norris took the lead after Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes, who initially led the race, spun at Turn 1 on his second lap on soft tyres.
The win marks the first victory for Norris and McLaren since Zandvoort in late August. Despite a late rain shower that required a switch back to intermediate tyres, Norris maintained his lead without being threatened.
Mercedes clinched the Formula 1 constructors’ title with three races to spare, marking its first such title since 2021. The team achieved this through fourth-place finishes by George Russell and fifth-place finishes by Antonelli, despite the team recording its first podium-less Grand Prix of the year.
Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar of Red Bull completed the podium in second and third place respectively. Verstappen moved up from 21st on the grid, gaining 10 positions in the first two laps.
George Russell finished fourth after passing Antonelli, despite reporting balance issues and spinning in the pitlane. Lewis Hamilton finished ninth for Ferrari after falling back due to struggles on intermediate tyres and a spin before his final pit stop.
Nico Hulkenberg took 10th place for Audi, earning the final point after serving a 10-second time penalty for going off track at Turn 1.
