Tejashwi Yadav criticises Bihar CM over remarks on state crime
The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader mocked Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary for distinguishing between crime and apraadh during a recent event.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday attacked Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary regarding the state's crime situation. According to a report by Times Now, Yadav mocked a video of Choudhary where the Chief Minister suggested that while crime may occur, there is no apraadh in Bihar.
Yadav, who is the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Bihar Assembly, alleged that Choudhary faces charges in seven murder cases. In an X post, Yadav questioned if IAS and IPS officers felt honoured or insulted working with the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister made these comments during an event held to mark a deal between the Bihar government and the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways regarding river water management. In the video, Choudhary stated that the concept of apraadh has ended and there are no criminals.
Addressing the same event, Choudhary discussed the Farakka Water Treaty with Bangladesh. He said the current terms restrict Bihar's ability to use its share of Ganga water, noting the state is entitled to water for only four months, from July to October.
Choudhary said the state requires water for agriculture, drinking, and industrial development. He stated that while he does not oppose Bangladesh receiving its share, Bihar cannot compromise on its own necessity for economic growth.
