Rahul Gandhi renews challenge to PM Modi for open debate

The Leader of Opposition asked the Prime Minister to pick a venue and discuss allegations of foreign links and financial issues.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday renewed his challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in an open debate. According to reports by The Times of India and Hindustan Times, Gandhi stated that 24 hours had passed since his initial dare to the Prime Minister.

In a video shared on X, Gandhi asked the Prime Minister to choose any stage or venue to discuss allegations regarding foreign connections. He questioned who is anti-national and what kind of links exist with foreign forces, urging the Prime Minister not to be afraid.

Gandhi proposed that the debate be held with the media and the country's youth present, with both leaders seated across a table. He suggested that the Prime Minister could appoint a moderator, even proposing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for the role.

The Congress leader listed several topics for discussion, including the financial system, the US deal, the Adani case, and Jeffrey Epstein. He also noted that while he faces approximately 45 defamation cases, no such case has been filed regarding his remarks on foreign connections.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded to the challenge by stating that the government is ready to discuss every issue in Parliament. Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised Gandhi, stating that top-level debates are conducted between matured people.

Gandhi also posted a poll on X asking young Indians if they wanted to see the debate. He tagged several Union ministers and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, asking them to convince the Prime Minister to participate.
