Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra said the return of the former minister reflects a changing political landscape.
Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Prem Sagar Aziz rejoined the Congress on Tuesday in Jammu, according to the Daily Excelsior.
Aziz, who is from the Bani-Basohli area in Kathua district, had previously been with the Congress for 45 years before joining the BJP in October 2021.
Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra welcomed Aziz and his supporters in the presence of working president Raman Bhalla.
Karra stated that Aziz had fulfilled various responsibilities sincerely, rising from the block level to become a minister.
Karra also claimed that the BJP used religion, caste and divisive politics to stay in power and that a new political consciousness is emerging.
Aziz said his return after eight years reaffirms his commitment to the party leadership. He noted that while his previous departure caused displeasure among leaders, certain circumstances had forced his decision.
