Radhika Apte recalls uncomfortable experience in Telugu film

The actor described a challenging role involving an unconventional marriage and a patriarchal setting during a recent interview.

Actor Radhika Apte has spoken about an uncomfortable experience working on a Telugu film, stating she hated everything about the role, according to The Indian Express.

While promoting the Netflix web series Akka alongside co-star Keerthy Suresh, Apte recalled a film where her character was required to marry her maternal uncle.

Apte said the experience was difficult because she had to romance a much older actor in a patriarchal situation and place.

She also noted that her character dies midway through the film, involving a scene where the male character throws her body over his shoulder before performing an action sequence.

During the interview, Suresh remarked that marrying an uncle is a theme depicted in certain Tamil and Telugu cultural contexts.

Apte, who made her Telugu debut in 2010 with Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra, previously worked with Nandamuri Balakrishna in Legend and Lion.
