National People's Party leader Conrad K. Sangma confirmed that three Garo Hills Autonomous District Council members will switch to the ruling party.

Three sitting members of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are scheduled to join the National People's Party (NPP) in Shillong on November 4, according to The Sentinel.

NPP national president and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma confirmed that Cherak W. Momin of Kharkutta, Agassi R.

Marak of Balachanda, and Alphonsush R. Marak of Williamnagar will join the party.

Sangma clarified that he has received no communication regarding any TMC MLAs joining the NPP.

Cherak Momin, who is a close associate of former Chief Minister and TMC leader Mukul Sangma, is reportedly being considered by the NPP as a potential candidate for the Kharkutta Assembly constituency in the 2028 elections.

The Kharkutta seat is currently held by NPP MLA Rupert Momin.
