Yogi Adityanath announces Rs 1,500 crore LPG subsidy for Uttar Pradesh families
The Chief Minister stated that the subsidy will benefit more than 1.89 crore eligible families in the state during the Diwali festival.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Diwali that his government will distribute LPG cylinder refill subsidies worth Rs 1,500 crore. According to The Hawk, the subsidy is intended for more than 1.89 crore eligible families in the state.
The Chief Minister said in a post on X that the distribution would take place in Lucknow. He stated that the measure aims to ensure economic difficulties do not force families to return to using traditional, smoke-emitting stoves.
Adityanath alleged that previous governments in Uttar Pradesh prioritised their own families over the suffering of poor households. He claimed that under previous regimes, millions of women were compelled to cook in smoke-filled kitchens due to dynastic politics.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government has prioritised public welfare over familism. He highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana as a scheme that provides clean cooking fuel to poor households.
Adityanath also mentioned the Deepotsav in Ayodhya as an example of social unity. He claimed that governments before 2017 ignored cultural forces that could unite society and instead used caste divisions as the basis of politics.
