Siddaramaiah alleges internal Congress involvement in sting operation row

The former chief minister met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi to discuss the alleged conspiracy aimed at damaging his reputation.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has alleged that certain members within the Congress party organised a fake sting operation to tarnish his image, according to sources close to the leader reported by Deccan Herald on Monday.

Siddaramaiah held a closed-door meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the 10 Janpath residence of Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. He was accompanied by his son, Urban Development Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah.

The former chief minister reportedly told Gandhi that a section of state Congress leaders was involved in the incident. He expressed dissatisfaction that the police were not investigating the matter with enough rigour to identify those responsible.

Siddaramaiah indicated to Gandhi that he might refuse to participate in future election campaigning, specifically the 2028 Assembly polls, if such attempts to harm his reputation persist. He also linked the sting video to the party's recent loss in four MLC seats in Karnataka.

While Siddaramaiah told reporters he discussed state politics and organisational issues with Gandhi, he did not specifically confirm raising the sting issue during the meeting. Rahul Gandhi reportedly assured him that his concerns would be addressed.

Before the meeting with Gandhi, Siddaramaiah also met with Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal.
