Democracy not safe in BJP's hands in Bengal, says TMC's Kunal Ghosh
Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh criticised a BJP march in Kolkata, calling it a response to opposition unity in Delhi.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh on Monday criticised a BJP 'Save Democracy' march in Kolkata, describing the protest as a misguided move following the opposition's display of unity at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, according to ANI.
Addressing reporters, Ghosh claimed that democracy is not secure under the BJP in West Bengal. He alleged that democratic norms were undermined during state elections through the misuse of central machinery.
Ghosh further alleged that central forces were misused and genuine voters were disenfranchised during the polls. He also targeted the Election Commission, stating that the nation is aware of how votes were hijacked.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin addressed the 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' march in Kolkata on Monday. He claimed that the people of Kolkata had rejected anarchy and that leaders of the INDI bloc were expressing despair after being defeated in their respective states.
Nabin referred to electoral outcomes in West Bengal, Delhi, and Bihar, stating that the TMC, Congress, AAP, and RJD had been wiped out in those regions. He also told Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to learn from his mistakes.
The verbal dispute between the TMC and the BJP has increased following street demonstrations by the BJP in Kolkata, where they alleged state-sponsored violence and the suppression of democratic rights.
