Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma vows to reclaim every inch of land

The Chief Minister stated that the government will continue its eviction drive following reports of demolitions in Dhubri district.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday that the government will continue its eviction drive and will not stop until every inch of land is reclaimed, according to ANI.

The Chief Minister's statement on X followed a report by a foreign media outlet regarding the demolition of hundreds of homes in the Dhubri district.

The media outlet reported that the demolitions displaced around 4,000 people and claimed the government campaign targeted families alleged to be living in the area illegally.

Sarma also commented on the INDIA bloc's symbolic impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and a rally against alleged electoral roll irregularities.

The Chief Minister remarked that while Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi could become Prime Minister in a mock Parliament, Narendra Modi would remain Prime Minister in the actual Parliament.

Sarma said that Congress leaders had made several attempts to make Gandhi the Prime Minister but had failed to achieve that objective.
