Gujarat CM urges bridging industry and employment gap for Viksit Bharat

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spoke at a seminar in Ahmedabad about preparing the youth through skill development and future-oriented education.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has called for closing the divide between industrial requirements and job availability to prepare a workforce for Viksit Bharat, according to reports by ANI and The News Mill.

Addressing the valedictory session of the ‘Viksit Gujarat 2047: Higher Education for Future Workforce Readiness’ seminar in Ahmedabad, Patel said the roadmap for Viksit Gujarat 2047 must prioritise talent pool development and youth skill enhancement.

The seminar was organised by the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT) in partnership with the State Government’s Higher Education Department.

Patel noted that the state's future competitiveness depends on educating the youth in alignment with changing demands. He described the initiative as a timely step toward the vision of Viksit Bharat outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Trikambhai Chhanga, who attended the session, said promoting digital literacy is essential. He stated students should be able to use technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Electronics and Automation.

The Chief Minister’s Office stated that Patel urged universities to update curricula alongside industries and promote research and internships, following the National Education Policy 2020. Sonia Pant, a Programme Director at NITI Aayog, also delivered a presentation on aligning higher education with employment needs.
