Rahul Gandhi says mindset behind Sidhu Moosewala murder persists in Punjab

The Leader of the Opposition addressed the Congress Insaaf Rally in Sangrur on Wednesday.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that the mindset responsible for the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala is roaming every corner of Punjab. Addressing the Congress Insaaf Rally in Sangrur, Gandhi recalled meeting the slain singer years ago when Moosewala approached him to join the Congress party.

According to ANI, Gandhi stated that Moosewala was a talented individual who wanted to work for Punjab and the country. He alleged that those with skill are threatened and shot in front of everyone. Gandhi noted that the singer's security was removed before he was murdered in broad daylight in a black SUV.

The Congress leader also addressed Moosewala's father on stage, recalling a conversation at the family home. Gandhi said the father had told him there is no greater pain than a father witnessing the death of his son.

Shifting to law and order, Gandhi criticised the ruling party regarding the drug menace and crime in the state. He said that a lack of industry, factories, and agriculture leads to drugs, gangsterism, and bullets being fired on the streets.

Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29, 2022. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar are accused in the murder case.
