Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill express frustration over rain in Auckland

The Indian players showed reluctance to continue playing during the first ODI against New Zealand as weather conditions worsened.

India captain Shubman Gill and batter Virat Kohli showed dissatisfaction when play continued during rain in Auckland on Wednesday, according to The Times of India.

During the first ODI against New Zealand, the match was first halted in the 11th over while India was chasing 186. At that time, the visitors were 29/1, with Kohli on 29 and Gill on 17.

After a delay of over an hour, play resumed with India's target revised to 167. However, rain returned shortly after play restarted.

As umpires attempted to finish the 12th over, Kohli told umpire Paul Reiffel that he could not see the ball due to the sightscreen. Gill also spoke to the square-leg umpire regarding the conditions.

New Zealand bowler Blair Tickner pulled his shirt over his head while Gill prepared to face the next delivery. Play was stopped again after 12 overs with India at 64/1.
