Bengal revenue diverted to TMC offices and sent abroad, alleges Adhikari

Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari claimed state funds were redirected to party offices following reports of money being recovered in Diamond Harbour.

West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari has alleged that thousands of crores in state revenue were moved to Trinamool Congress (TMC) party offices rather than the government treasury, according to India Today.

Adhikari made these claims after reports emerged regarding the recovery of crores of rupees from a TMC office in Diamond Harbour. He stated that police have collected evidence of these diversions and warned that those involved will face strict action.

The Chief Minister noted that the state collected Rs 37,281 crore between April 1 and October 31, 2024. He said this figure is nearly Rs 4,000 crore higher than the usual collection for that period, despite no new stone or sand mines being auctioned.

Adhikari alleged that this extra revenue reached an individual responsible for collecting funds for the former Chief Minister's family and associates. He further claimed that this stolen revenue has been sent abroad.

In a separate matter, Adhikari told Humayun Kabir that a mosque named after the Mughal emperor Babur would not receive construction permission or planning approval. He also warned Kabir against a reported plan to block a national highway on December 6.
