NC MLA Salman Sagar alleges BJP executed Operation Lotus in Kashmir
The National Conference legislator claimed Aga Ruhullah's resignation was part of a strategy to weaken the party.
National Conference (NC) MLA Salman Sagar on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of executing “Operation Lotus” in Kashmir following the resignation of Aga Ruhullah from the party, according to WION.
Addressing a press conference, Sagar alleged that Ruhullah's departure was part of a systematic strategy to weaken the NC and take elected representatives away from the party. He said the BJP had succeeded and that the development was unfortunate for the party and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sagar questioned Ruhullah's decision to resign after spending approximately 25 years with the NC, during which he served as an MLA, minister, and Member of Parliament. He suggested that internal differences should have been addressed within the party rather than through resignation.
The MLA rejected claims that the NC had compromised on its position regarding Article 370 and Article 35A. He asserted that the restoration of special status and protection of political identity remain central to the party's agenda.
Sagar credited the party's electoral victory to public sentiment and party workers rather than any individual leader. He also called for decency in political discourse and restraint in personal attacks.
Regarding the impact on other MLAs, Sagar stated that the party would respond to issues surrounding the resignation in due course and asked to be questioned again after two days.
