Engineers and linemen from Karnataka's Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation are assisting in repairs after Cyclone Murusu damaged 2,000 electricity poles.

The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has sent engineers and field staff to Andhra Pradesh to help restore power disrupted by Cyclone Murusu, according to The Hindu.

The deployment follows directions from the Chief Minister and the Energy Minister to assist the cyclone-hit state.

The cyclone has damaged approximately 2,000 electricity poles in Andhra Pradesh and caused complete power disruption at three or four 33-kV substations.

The CESC team includes one Executive Engineer, two Assistant Executive Engineers, one Assistant Engineer, three Junior Engineers, and 80 linemen.

The corporation has also sent four trucks, four digger machines, and other technical equipment and materials to the site.

CESC Managing Director M.S. Archana said the corporation deputed staff following instructions from the Chief Minister and the Energy Minister. She stated that extending assistance to people of another state during a crisis is their duty and they will provide all necessary support for restoration work.
