Four Tamil Nadu fishermen's bodies recovered off Andhra Pradesh coast

Search operations continue for five remaining fishermen after their boat capsized during Cyclone Murasu.

Four fishermen from Tamil Nadu who went missing after their boat capsized near the Andhra Pradesh coast have been found dead, according to the Hindustan Times. Prakasam District Collector P Raja Babu said on Thursday that the recovered individuals were among nine fishermen who had disappeared during Cyclone Murasu.

The incident occurred after the vessel, which had been anchored at Nizampatnam Port, began moving towards Ramayapatnam on November 3. The Collector stated the crew moved without informing Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu authorities and the boat capsized in strong winds while in transit.

Of the four bodies found, three washed up at Kothapatnam and one was located during search operations. The deceased are being moved to the Government General Hospital mortuary and will be handed over to Tamil Nadu officials once formalities are finished.

The nine fishermen had originally departed from the Kasimedu fishing harbour in Chennai on October 29. Local fisherman Sathish Kumar noted that communication with the vessel was lost at 3 pm on November 3.

The Coast Guard has been alerted to assist in rescue efforts. Collector Raja Babu said search operations are ongoing to locate the five remaining missing fishermen.
