West Bengal CM calls for unity to boost industrial growth
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari urged collaboration between the government and stakeholders during the launch of a new industrial policy.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari called for enhanced collaboration between the government, industry stakeholders and the public to increase industrial growth in the state. He made these remarks at Utsari Eco Park on November 6 during the launch of the West Bengal Industrial Promotion Policy, according to The News Mill.
Adhikari stated that the BJP-NDA is functioning in 21 states and noted that West Bengal is 1000-km behind states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. He requested cooperation, advice and teamwork from lawmakers, the bureaucracy, industrialists, investors, trade union organisers and the people of West Bengal.
State Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta said the policy provides the basic architecture of investment to signal that West Bengal is a welcoming place for businesses. He noted that the policy aims to provide a sense of predictability for investors.
Minister Moumita Biswas Misra said the policy establishes a clear timeline for completing processes within a set number of days. She stated that previously, land was unavailable and files would circulate between desks without a defined timeline, which discouraged industrialists.
State Minister Tapas Roy described the policy as a gift for industries, business leaders and entrepreneurs ahead of Dhanteras, Kali Puja and Diwali. Minister Biswas Misra added that the goal is to restore the state to its former glory when industry and commerce flourished.
