A suspect is being sought in the Afyonkarahisar province following a series of attacks involving three separate vehicles on Thursday.
Police in western Turkey have launched a large-scale operation to find a suspect who killed eight people and seriously injured one person on Thursday. The shootings occurred in the Afyonkarahisar province, according to reports from BBC News.
The Anadolu Agency stated that three victims were killed near Ayazini village and another three died near Kiyir village. In Yukaritandir, two women died in a hospital after being found injured, the state-run agency reported.
CCTV footage released by Turkish media shows a man wearing glasses, a black jacket, and white trousers holding a long weapon near a red minivan. The Milliyet newspaper reported that the attacker allegedly abandoned a vehicle after it became stuck in mud, then fled on foot.
Local authorities closed roads leading to the affected villages while searching for the suspect. The Afyonkarahisar Governorate said in a social media statement that state institutions are working in coordination to carry out necessary work.
The Governorate also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased citizens.
