Praful Patel visits Sharad Pawar in Mumbai hospital

The NCP leader enquired about the health of the NCP (SP) chief, who is being treated for a respiratory infection.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel visited NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday to enquire about his health, according to reports from Times of India and The News Mill.

Dr Pratit Samdani, a doctor at the hospital, stated that Pawar was admitted on Wednesday night with a respiratory and chest infection, noting that the patient is stable and undergoing treatment for issues similar to bronchitis.

Pawar had previously been admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on November 2 after experiencing a cough and pleuritic chest pain. He was later discharged from that facility to travel to Mumbai for further medical check-ups.

Patel described the visit as a courtesy call based on family ties and dismissed suggestions that the meeting involved political discussions. He noted that Pawar was in good spirits and asked about political developments in the state and country.

The visit follows reports of internal discord within the NCP. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly met with several senior NCP functionaries, including Patel, on Sunday to discuss resolving organisational differences.

Patel also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called to enquire about Pawar's well-being, describing the relationship between the two leaders as long-standing and cordial.
