Jharkhand minister's remark on Bangladesh sparks BJP-Congress confrontation

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the Congress party of encouraging anarchy after a video of Irfan Ansari was released.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Thursday criticised the Congress party after a video surfaced of Jharkhand leader Irfan Ansari. In the video, Ansari claimed the political and economic situation in India could become worse than in Bangladesh and Nepal, according to News18.

Ansari stated that various groups, including farmers, the middle class, Dalits, Adivasis, and Muslims, are facing difficulties. He said the country is on the verge of collapse and mentioned meeting students in Delhi. He further claimed that 4 million young people are ready to take to the streets and questioned if the army could stop them.

The Congress leader also questioned Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding the alleged deletion of 13 crore voters from electoral rolls. He raised issues concerning Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation during his remarks.

Reacting to the footage on X, Bhandari described the video as proof of an anarchy toolkit used by Rahul Gandhi and the Congress. He accused the party of encouraging unrest.

The remarks occur during a dispute between the Opposition and the Election Commission over the revision of electoral rolls. Opposition parties have demanded the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has resulted in the large-scale removal of voters. The government and the Election Commission have stated that the process aims to update rolls by removing ineligible or duplicate entries.
