Congress flags fake attendance cases in VB-G RAM G scheme

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP of using clone apps to record fraudulent attendance under the new employment scheme.

The Congress party on Wednesday slammed the BJP over reported cases of fake attendance within the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, or VB-G RAM G Act, scheme, according to The Hindu.

Congress general secretary and former Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh claimed that a case of fake attendance has surfaced in Sant Kabir Nagar district, following a previous major case in Gorakhpur.

Ramesh stated that cases of recording fake attendance through clone apps are repeatedly being exposed. He noted that these apps resemble the official National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS) app and are used to mark mass attendance using photos stored on mobile phones.

Referring to the Ram temple donation theft case, Ramesh asked how many more sins the BJP would commit in the name of Lord Ram. He described the situation as a betrayal of faith and a theft of the rights of the poor.

The VB-G RAM G Act came into force across the country on July 1, replacing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Ramesh had previously alleged that the scheme represents a state-sponsored plunder of the poor through fake attendance records.
