Harsh Sanghavi also announced a half-month salary advance for GSRTC staff ahead of Diwali.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi inaugurated 101 new Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses in Gandhinagar on November 6, according to reports by ANI and The News Mill. The new fleet aims to improve passenger connectivity and provide more comfortable and safer travel.
During the event, Sanghavi deviated from standard protocol by asking GSRTC employees to flag off the vehicles. He stated that the workers are the true identity and strength of the fleet.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that GSRTC staff will be given an advance payment of half a month's salary to support their Diwali celebrations. He met with drivers, conductors, and workshop workers to extend festive greetings to them and their families.
Minister of State for Transport Pravin Mali was present at the ceremony. Other attendees included Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Rupsinh Thakor and GSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr Rajender Kumar.
The introduction of these buses is expected to help travel during the festive season and improve transport links between urban and rural areas in the state.
