Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress leader suspended for missing Delhi rally

Saurabh Sharma was among 60 office-bearers removed from their posts for failing to attend a party rally at Ramlila Maidan.

The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Youth Congress suspended 60 office-bearers, including Maihar district president Saurabh Sharma, for missing a rally in Delhi on November 1. According to India Today, the rally at Ramlila Maidan was held following instructions from the national leadership.

Sharma stated he missed the event to attend a traditional 'Barho' ceremony for his nephew, the son of his elder brother Nitin Sharma. He said he could not attend the rally because his family was hosting the celebration.

The party issued the suspension order on November 3, citing negligence of organisational duties and a breach of party discipline. The state unit viewed the absence of the leaders as organisational indiscipline.

The suspended group includes nine district presidents, five vice-presidents, 14 general secretaries and 32 secretaries. Other suspended district presidents are Prithviraj Chauhan from Agar, Manmohan Shaktawat from Neemuch, Arjun Jangale from Burhanpur, Manvendra Mishra from Anuppur, Pancham Bhil from Guna, Aditya Goyal from Barwani, Manvendra Singh Parmar from Chhatarpur and Manish Purohit from Bhind.

Sharma acknowledged that the party considered his absence to be indiscipline but said he accepted the decision made by the senior leadership. The suspensions remain in effect until further orders.
