Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will distribute appointment letters to a new group of scientific officers in Lucknow on Thursday, according to ANI. The officers have successfully cleared the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) examination.
The Chief Minister announced the recruitment drive on X, noting that forensic science and technological integration are essential for public safety and a strong legal system. He stated that fair investigations and scientific evidence are the foundation of a robust justice system.
In a separate development on Wednesday, the Chief Minister expressed support for the Union Cabinet's decision to allow an extra two-year service period for Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme. He described the move as a significant step for the future of those in the programme.
Under the revised arrangement, 25 per cent of Agniveers will be selected for regular defence service based on merit after the initial four-year term. The remaining 75 per cent will have the choice to serve an additional two years on a voluntary basis.
Those opting for the two-year extension will receive higher pay, an increased Seva Nidhi package, and cumulative seniority benefits. After completing six years of service, they may be recruited as regular soldiers if they meet the selection criteria and wish to do so.
