Mohsen Rezaei delivered a message from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during talks on energy and post-war arrangements.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday to discuss regional security and energy cooperation, according to Al Jazeera.
Rezaei delivered a letter to Putin from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei during the meeting at the Kremlin's Senate Palace.
The talks focused on regional security arrangements and the post-war period. Rezaei said the discussions also included plans to deepen energy cooperation, specifically the construction of a gas pipeline from Russia to Iran to address Iranian gas shortages.
Rezaei stated that Putin reiterated Russia's readiness to support efforts to end the war. According to News18, Rezaei said Putin called the conflict unjust and condemned attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Regarding diplomacy, Rezaei said Tehran would not hold negotiations with the US or reopen the Strait of Hormuz until Washington meets seven specific conditions. He noted that the discussions also covered a meeting held in Tehran in late October involving Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Pakistan.
The meeting occurred as Qatar increases diplomatic efforts to end the war. On Wednesday, Khamenei said in a written statement that there should not be any inclination towards submission to the US and called for a stronger Iran to reach absolute deterrence.
