BJP MLA calls for boycott of Shah Rukh Khan film King
Delhi legislator Ravi Negi demanded the removal of a scene featuring Deepika Padukone in saffron attire to avoid nationwide protests.
Delhi Patparganj BJP MLA Ravi Negi has threatened a nationwide boycott of the upcoming film King if a specific scene is not edited. According to News18, the demand follows the release of the song Tu Mil Jaaye, which shows Deepika Padukone wearing an orange dress while dancing with Shah Rukh Khan.
Negi told Dainik Samachar that the actor must delete footage of Padukone in saffron clothing. He referred to a previous dispute involving Padukone's orange swimwear in the 2023 film Pathaan, noting that Hindu organisations protested that outfit at the time.
The legislator called Khan a Jihadi and alleged that such individuals earn money in India while bringing disrepute to the country. He claimed Padukone is being used as a pawn and stated that the scene is part of a planned conspiracy to hurt religious sentiments.
Negi further remarked that in the Sanatan Dharma they believe in, such clothes are worn and people dance indecently. He warned that if the scene is not changed, protests will occur across the country because nothing against Sanatan Dharma will be tolerated.
The MLA also mentioned a recent controversy involving actor Dia Mirza and a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Diwali campaign. He questioned why pollution concerns are raised during Diwali but not during Eid celebrations.
