Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi trailer to release on November 6

The war drama inspired by the Galwan Valley clash has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the CBFC.

The trailer for the upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is reportedly scheduled to release this Friday, November 6, according to reports from Odisha Bytes, Rediff and Outlook.

The 4-minute-and-43-second promo has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The trailer launch is expected to take place at an event in Mumbai, where actor Salman Khan is said to announce the film's theatrical release date, which could be either November 20 or December 4.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the June 15-16, 2020 military clash in the Galwan Valley. Salman Khan portrays Colonel Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who led Indian troops during the confrontation. The film also stars Chitrangda Singh, Prashant Tamang, Ankur Bhatia and Abhilash Chaudhary.

The project was originally titled Battle of Galwan and was initially planned for an April release. The film underwent revisions after the Ministry of Defence raised concerns regarding certain aspects of the original story, leading to changes in how India-China relations are depicted.

The production, backed by Salman Khan Films, was renamed Maatrubhumi in March 2026. While the makers are reportedly considering November 13, 2026, as a tentative release date, an official announcement is still awaited.
