JAC questions silence of South Shillong MLA on ropeway project
The Joint Action Committee against the Shillong Ropeway project has called on Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai to address local residents.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Shillong Ropeway project has questioned why South Shillong legislator and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai has remained silent on the issue, according to the Meghalaya Monitor.
JAC president Deborah Marbaniang told reporters that the residents of Laban had supported Shullai from his time as an MDC to his current role as an MLA and minister.
Marbaniang stated that the MLA promised much during elections but is now nowhere to be seen. She requested Shullai to come and support the welfare of the locality.
The JAC president also claimed that residents were kept unaware of the land lease deal. She said the Rangbah Shnong should scrap the lease.
Marbaniang asserted that the protest will continue until the government cancels the project. She said they would continue to sit there until the government removes the ropeway from Lum Shyllong.
