Male cheetah CCB-4 enters Rajasthan's Baran district
Forest officials are tracking the movement of the three-year-old cheetah after it moved from Madhya Pradesh into Rajasthan.
A male cheetah known as CCB-4 entered the Anjroda forests in Rajasthan's Baran district on Friday night, according to Moneycontrol. The animal moved from Kurkuta village in Madhya Pradesh to Kurkuti village in Rajasthan, passing through Dua, Silori and Khushiyara before reaching the forests.
Teams from Kuno National Park and the Kelwara forest range are currently monitoring the animal's movements. CCB-4 is approximately three years old and was part of a third batch of nine cheetahs brought from Botswana to India as part of Project Cheetah.
The cheetah arrived in Gwalior on an Indian Air Force aircraft and was transported to Kuno National Park by helicopter on February 28, 2026. It was initially kept in quarantine enclosures before being released into the wild.
CCB-4 has gained attention for an unusual bond with KNG-23, a male cheetah born in India. While male cheetahs typically form coalitions with siblings, these two were born in different countries to different mothers and have been seen hunting, feeding and grooming together.
The movement of CCB-4 follows previous instances where cheetahs from Kuno National Park explored Baran, including cubs KP-2 and KP-3, and a female named Veera. Officials noted that the open terrain and grasslands of Baran are considered favourable for the species.
