West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh criticises Mamata Banerjee over INDIA bloc rally

Minister Ghosh alleged that the former Chief Minister is turning to Sonia Gandhi due to political decline.

West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh criticised former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday in Kharagpur for her participation in a recent INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, according to The News Mill and ANI. Ghosh claimed that Banerjee is seeking support from Congress leader Sonia Gandhi because her own party has lost its political standing.

The minister alleged that Banerjee has lost her influence after losing her constituency and stated that her party is now finished. He said that while she previously aimed to be a top leader, she is currently not an elected representative and is accepting Sonia Gandhi as a leader out of helplessness.

Ghosh also addressed Banerjee's objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He stated that political parties must respect the public verdict and suggested that Banerjee only supported the Election Commission when she was winning.

The minister claimed that the removal of fake voters through the revision process allowed for a free and fair election in West Bengal. He added that the government and party workers will hold rallies to counter opposition attempts to cause unrest.

Regarding law and order, Ghosh said cabinet ministers have been assigned specific districts to oversee during Deepavali, Kali Puja, and Jagaddhatri Puja. He has been given responsibility for Purba Medinipur (East Midnapore).

Ghosh also criticised development boards established under Banerjee, such as the Matua Board, alleging they lacked funds and activity. He noted that the Matua community faces economic hardships and said Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has initiated work for their development.
