Jharkhand develops AI portal to monitor medicine supply chain

The National Informatics Centre and state Drug Control Department created the platform to prevent the unauthorised sale of medicines as intoxicants.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) Jharkhand and the state Drug Control Department have created an AI-powered portal to monitor the medicine supply chain from manufacturers to patients, according to The New Indian Express.

The platform is designed to stop the misuse of medicines as intoxicants and track unauthorised sales through real-time monitoring of stocks, purchases, and sales.

The system will produce automatic alerts for unusually large transactions, which will help drug control officials identify suspicious supplies.

The portal can also be accessed by drug control departments in other states.

In a separate development, Jharkhand is set to receive its first bio-CNG plant at the Sukurhuttu branch of Ranchi Gaushala Nyas in Kanke.

The project, estimated to cost around Rs 20 crore, aims to convert cow dung and organic waste into compressed biogas and organic fertiliser by 2027.
