Sidhu Moosewala's father thanks Rahul Gandhi, raises Punjab law and order concerns
Balkaur Singh Sidhu expressed gratitude to the Congress leader for supporting his family following the singer's murder.
Balkaur Singh Sidhu, father of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday for standing by his family after the singer's murder. Speaking on the sidelines of the Congress party's 'Insaaf Rally' in Sangrur, Punjab, Sidhu said the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition continues to enquire about the investigation's progress, according to ANI.
Sidhu stated that Gandhi made time to meet him despite a busy schedule. He said that whenever Gandhi visits, he shares the family's grief and continues to support them. Sidhu also noted that Gandhi expressed concern regarding the law-and-order situation in the state.
Sidhu described the law-and-order situation in Punjab as 'extremely pathetic' and said that murders are happening every single day. He added that Punjab is 'completely distressed'.
Addressing the rally, Rahul Gandhi said the mindset behind the singer's killing is now roaming every nook and corner of Punjab. He recalled that Moosewala had visited his office to seek joining the Congress party and described him as a talented and dynamic person.
Gandhi alleged that a lack of industries, factories and employment opportunities is contributing to drug abuse and gangsterism in the state. He also recalled the threats received by Moosewala before his killing in broad daylight.
Punjab Congress Working President Raj Kumar Verka said the region has witnessed Moosewala's murder alongside incidents linked to drugs, police brutality and gangsterism. Verka pledged to hold those responsible for alleged corruption involving the families of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal accountable.
