Rahul Gandhi says mindset of Sidhu Moosewala killers roams Punjab

The Leader of the Opposition addressed the Congress Insaaf Rally in Sangrur on Wednesday and called the slain singer's father on stage.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that the mindset responsible for the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala is now roaming every nook and corner of Punjab. Addressing the Congress party's Insaaf Rally in Sangrur, Gandhi recalled his meeting with the musician and noted that the singer's father joined him on stage.

According to ANI, Gandhi stated that what happened to Moosewala has become a fashion in the state. He alleged that individuals with talent and skill who want to work for the country or Punjab are being threatened and shot in front of everyone.

Recalling their past meeting, Gandhi said Moosewala had approached his office years ago to join the Congress. He described the singer as an impressive and talented individual but noted that he seemed to be entering a dangerous political space without fully understanding the risks.

Gandhi also addressed the law and order situation in Punjab, specifically mentioning the spread of drugs and gangsterism. He claimed that a lack of industry, factories, and agriculture leads to these issues and criticised the ruling party regarding the drug menace.

Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29, 2022, in broad daylight. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar are accused in the murder case. These remarks come ahead of the 2027 state assembly elections.
