Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar claimed rival parties are using large sums of money to destabilise the government.
Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar alleged on Wednesday that DMK president M.K. Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin are attempting to poach Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLAs to destabilise the government.
Speaking to journalists in Madurai, the minister claimed that the DMK and AIADMK are working together to facilitate a coalition government with the support of the BJP.
According to reports from Deccan Chronicle, The Hindu and ThePrint, Nirmal Kumar alleged that the rival parties are using huge sums of money to buy over legislators. He claimed that offers ranging from Rs 60 crore to Rs 70 crore are being made to MLAs and that illicit hawala money trails have surfaced in Bengaluru.
The minister stated that the ultimate objective of these manoeuvres is to make AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami the chief minister. He asserted that the administration led by Chief Minister C.
Joseph Vijay would remain immune to such ploys and that TVK MLAs will not be compromised.
Nirmal Kumar also addressed administrative reforms, noting that the government is tackling corruption in sectors such as Tasmac, the electricity board and the minerals department. He mentioned that a committee led by former police chief J.K. Tripathi is working on structural changes for the Prison Department.
Regarding government schemes, the minister said that while some names are being adjusted for better reach, such as the 'Naan Mudhalvan' programme, others may be shut down if they fail to resonate with the public.
