Tripura cricketer Murasingh aims for IPL debut

The 33-year-old left-handed player seeks to play in the Indian Premier League after a long first-class career.

Manisankar Murasingh, a 33-year-old cricketer for Tripura, expressed his desire to play in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game, according to a report by The New Indian Express.

The left-handed player, who has played over 100 first-class matches since his debut against Jharkhand in November 2009, said playing in the IPL is his ultimate goal.

Murasingh has previously given trials for teams including the Royals, where he was asked to score 30 runs in 10 balls.

The cricketer noted that infrastructure in Tripura remains a challenge, stating that the state lacks a proper academy in Agartala and has only one indoor gym in the city.

He said that while the state has seen growth in the last 4-5 years, there is still difficulty regarding infrastructure compared to states like Karnataka.

Murasingh mentioned that the state and government are currently in talks to acquire land for a larger academy to improve preparation.
