AICWA seeks PM Modi intervention over Bollywood security concerns

The All Indian Cine Workers Association has urged the Prime Minister to strengthen protection for film industry members following recent attacks.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent intervention to protect actors, filmmakers, and their families. According to a report by the Times of India, the association sent a letter dated November 3, 2026, highlighting growing security threats in the film industry.

The appeal follows an incident on November 1 where 84-year-old actor Amitabh Bachchan appeared behind bulletproof glass at his Jalsa residence in Juhu. His son, Abhishek Bachchan, was also present to monitor the crowd. The AICWA stated that the veteran actor, who has met fans every Sunday for four decades, never imagined needing such protection in his own city.

AICWA president Suresh Shyam Lal Gupta urged the Prime Minister to take steps to address incidents of shootings, physical attacks, and extortion. The association cited several cases, including the murder of Baba Siddique in Bandra, firing outside Salman Khan's residence, a knife attack on Saif Ali Khan, and a shooting at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu home.

The association also noted a recent shooting involving Tiger Shroff in Juhu, where two persons were hit by bullets. The letter alleged that Tiger Shroff was targeted in broad daylight to spread terror. It further mentioned reports of Tusshar Kapoor allegedly receiving an extortion demand of Rs 5 crore.

The AICWA alleged that criminal gangs are targeting Bollywood personalities to gain notoriety and extract money, calling the industry a soft target. The association stated that the law and order situation in Mumbai has broken down and requested real, visible protection rather than mere assurances.
