AICWA seeks PM Modi's intervention over Bollywood security concerns
The All Indian Cine Workers Association has requested urgent protection for film industry members following recent attacks and security measures taken by Amitabh Bachchan.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent intervention to strengthen security for actors, filmmakers, and their families, according to a Times of India report. The association sent a letter dated November 3, 2026, expressing concern over growing threats to the film fraternity.
The appeal follows an incident on November 1 where 84-year-old actor Amitabh Bachchan appeared behind bulletproof glass at his Jalsa residence in Juhu to meet fans. His son, Abhishek Bachchan, was present during the appearance. AICWA president Suresh Shyam Lal Gupta stated that the veteran actor never imagined he would need such protection in his own city.
The association highlighted several incidents, including the murder of Baba Siddique in Bandra, firing outside Salman Khan's residence, a knife attack on Saif Ali Khan, and a shooting outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu home. It also noted firing incidents at comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada and a recent shooting involving Tiger Shroff in Juhu.
Regarding the Tiger Shroff incident, the letter stated that two persons were hit by bullets in a busy neighbourhood. The AICWA alleged that the attack was intended to spread terror and that criminal gangs are targeting Bollywood personalities for extortion and notoriety.
The letter also mentioned that Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received an extortion demand of Rs 5 crore. The AICWA claimed that gangsters view the industry as a soft target due to its international visibility.
The association further questioned the law-and-order situation in Mumbai, stating that if high-profile individuals are vulnerable, ordinary residents are also at stake. The AICWA has called for concrete security measures rather than mere assurances.
