Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu briefed the Prime Minister on extensive damage to agriculture and infrastructure.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu via telephone on Wednesday morning to discuss the impact of Cyclones Arnab and Murasu, according to The Hindu.
The two storms hit the state within a single week. Naidu informed the Prime Minister about the damage in affected regions, noting that heavy rainfall and strong winds caused significant losses for farmers and damaged electricity infrastructure, roads, and other sectors.
The Chief Minister requested that the Central Government provide sufficient assistance to the state to manage the destruction. Naidu has previously written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to seek Rs 4,563 crore in immediate relief for damage from Cyclone Arnab, while preliminary assessments for Cyclone Murasu estimate losses at Rs 343 crore.
The Prime Minister commended the state government for its response to the cyclone-related situation. Modi praised Naidu for his constant vigilance and for managing the challenges brought by the storms in an efficient manner, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on X.
